Texas On My Mind

Day 2:  Well this is my second day to respond to the challenge to write everyday.

I live in a small town in Texas, and guess what, it snowed here Christmas Day. It never snows in this area of  Texas.  It was so beautiful, but cold (burr) cold.  The wind was coming out of the north and blowing about 15 miles per hour.  After it snowed about 3-4 inches, the trees were limp with heavy snow.  I thought they might break.  My brother-in-law was here visiting from the nursing home that he lives at (he had a stroke) so my husband had to take in back to the nursing home. Very large flakes were coming down and the wind was blowing hard.  It was fun getting him into the car with his walker (not really), almost froze to death, just kidding. Snow is still on the ground tonight, sum has melted, but still cold, supposed to get down to 23 tonight.  I loved the crisp air that it brought and this morning the sun shone on the snow and it glistened.  I felt what the people up north go through now (just a little).

I’m responding to the weekly writing challenge from the “Daily Post”. I’m gong to take that challenge in regard to commit to write each day for a whole week. I have to really think about what I would write about, but as was said in the challenge post, you can post a poem, photos etc. I don’t have to write a bunch just a few lines if I want. I can write about the New Year coming upon us, or something about myself that I would like to accomplish this New Year. Maybe I could write about my family and the funny things they get them self into. Or maybe I can just post a recipe I like or others would like. Thanks DP Challenge for all the new ideas.

Writing is harder than I thought it would be. Can’t find the subject to write about sometimes. I guess it’s called writer’s block. I look at some of the blogs on the web and some people just go on and on with their writing’s and  I wonder how do they do that! I so appreciate  the opportunity to write what I want to write,  when it probably doesn’t seam to sound like I have any thing to say. Hopefully, I will continue to learn and grow by my peers on the blog’s. There are some great blogs out there.

Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them ?

Thank your for your encourgeing words. I’m learning not to compare myself with others, which I have done most of my life.

Heart to Heart Journey

A lethal word. Compare. Doesn’t it just make you cringe?

[kuhm-pair] verb, com·pared,com·par·ing, noun

1. to examine (two or more objects, ideas, people, etc.) in order to note similarities and differences:

I lived most of my life playing the comparison game.

Only it’s really not a game – is it?

For me – it infected every relationship. Unable to be at ease in any friendship or interaction with others, I constantly fell short. In my late teens and early twenties when I met other young women I was constantly on guard when my boyfriend was near. If she was beautiful, funny and energetic the insecurity became unbearable. Even if I respected the young woman, she was a threat.  Once I was married the roots of comparison grew deeper.

I was in bondage to measuring myself against another. Bondage I carried with me for many years. I didn’t ask anyone…
